The Petit Robusto meets a very real need: to enjoy a characterful cigar without requiring a full hour. By retaining the ring gauge of 50 from the standard Robusto, it maintains the richness and complexity of premium blends in a shorter format. This size has been popularized by Habanos S.A. with the Cohiba Short and the Partagas Série D No.4 reduced format.
It has since been adopted by most premium manufacturers as an entry-level or discovery cigar. Its rapid yet dense combustion requires particular attention to avoid overheating the cigar. When smoked properly, the Petit Robusto reveals the same aromatic qualities as its larger sibling, with an additional concentration due to its reduced length.
