Cuaba cigars from Cuba
Cuaba · Cuba6 cigars

The brand name of the cigars Cuaba comes from the Taino Indians, the indigenous people of Cuba. It is the name given to a highly flammable shrub, with which the Indians lit their first cigars. The Cuaba cigars from Cuba are made in special formats, known as double figurados or torpedo.
These are shapes of cigars that were very popular at the end of the 19th century and taper at both ends.
When you observe a Cuaba cigar, the first thing you notice is its unconventional shape. Unlike the modern and uniform cigar, Cuaba cigars are rolled in the traditional manner to produce an interesting smoking experience. One can expect a medium-full-bodied smoke rich in classic Cuban flavors.
Cuaba was officially launched by the president of Habanos, Francisco Linares, on November 19, 1996, at Claridge's Hotel in London, England, in the form of a range of 100% perfect cigars. The brand was introduced with the aim of reviving the figurados, which were very popular in the early 20th century but had been in decline since the 1950s. For the launch evening, the creator of the range, Carlos Izquierdo González, and fourteen other highly skilled torcedores participated in a demonstration of crafting figurado cigars.
The original Cuabas were slightly different sizes within the same box, as a cigar mold was not used for pressing them. About a year later, when molds were finally made for Cuaba, these original unmolded cigars became highly sought-after collector's items.
