The uniqueness of Ecuador lies in its distinctive geography: the plantations on the Pacific coast and the Andean foothills benefit from a nearly permanent natural cloud cover, providing the tobacco plants with diffuse light similar to that of the artificial shading tents used in the Connecticut Valley. This naturally filtered luminosity produces wide, thin leaves that are very little veiny and exhibit remarkable elasticity—essential qualities for a quality wrapper.
