The Toro has established itself over the past few decades as the benchmark format for premium cigars, particularly in Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Dominican productions. Its 50 ring gauge allows for the incorporation of complex fillers and rich blends, while maintaining sufficient length for a beautiful aromatic progression. This gauge is particularly suited for characterful cigars, where the substantial section promotes a cool burn and generous smoke.
Master blenders appreciate the Toro for the freedom it offers in terms of blends: it can accommodate up to 4 or 5 different types of fillers. The format exists in several variants: standard Toro (6 × 50), Gran Toro (6 × 54), and Toro Gordo (6 × 60). It is currently the best-selling format in the United States and one of the most sought after in Europe.
