Quai D'Orsay is one of the few Cuban cigar brands to have emerged after the revolution. It was launched in 1974 primarily for the French market. Traditionally, cigars with a smooth cape are smoked in France.
Their pleasant flavor and easy accessibility have made them popular in other countries, both for beginners and for more experienced cigar enthusiasts.
Created in the 1970s, in Cuba for Seita in France (Société nationale d'exploitation industrielle des tabacs et allumettes), this cigar brand was primarily established for the French market, featuring modules with light-colored capes, tobacco with slightly roasted, toasted aromas accompanied by a certain sweetness on the palate.
Quai d'Orsay cigars are harvested in the Vuelta Abajo region. The cigars are handmade at the Romeo y Julieta factory. In 1973, Cubatabaco drew inspiration from the famous address of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris to create this brand, which was originally distributed mainly in France.
Starting from 2008, the Benelux took on the representation of Quai d’Orsay, expanding the market to other countries in Europe, which were already fond of these cigars adorned with a light cape, a favorite among French connoisseurs. Nevertheless, to satisfy the demands of all these new enthusiasts, Quai d’Orsay introduced other colors, including maduro. These young vitolas are renowned for their smoothness and are therefore recommended to novices eager to try smoking Cuban cigars, who will surely be captivated by their delicate aromas.
