The Por Larranaga brand is known to be one of the oldest lines of Cuban cigars, having been registered as early as 1834 by Ignacio Larranãga. Initially produced at 94 - O’Reilly Street in Havana, production moved to 58 San Miguel Street in 1840. Despite their fame, Por Larranaga cigars are only produced in small quantities.

Thus, by the end of the 19th century, while their reputation was firmly established on the international scene and they were highly prized by the intellectual and financial elite, their export volume represented only 5.3% of the total for all Cuban cigars. Starting in 1980, the sudden disinterest from aficionados further reduced production. Then, the brand made a strong comeback, notably with two vitolas entirely rolled by hand, the Panatelas and the Petit Corona.

The latter, in particular, wins all the accolades with its increasing strength during smoking and the complexity of its aromas, making one forget that most of the cigars currently produced by this factory are "mechanical," primarily intended for Canada and the Middle East.
